The Real Cost of Car Detailing in Utah in 2026

By Auto Spa Express · Mobile interior detailing, Clearfield, Utah · Updated September 16, 2026

If you've searched for car detailing prices in Utah, you've probably noticed the numbers are all over the place — and half the websites won't give you a price at all until you call. This article lays out what interior detailing actually costs along the Wasatch Front in 2026, what drives the price up or down, and how to tell whether a cheap quote is a bargain or a warning sign.

We're a detailing company, so yes, we have a horse in this race. Our answer to that is to publish our own prices right here and explain the reasoning, so you can compare intelligently — with us or with anyone else.

The short answer

For a professional interior detail in the Davis, Weber, or Salt Lake County area, most reputable services charge somewhere in the low hundreds for a standard interior and more for heavily soiled vehicles. At Auto Spa Express, our pricing is:

  • Silver (Light Duty) — $125: full vacuum, dashboard and console wipe down, door panels, air freshener
  • Gold (Heavy Duty) — $200: everything in Silver plus carpet shampoo, leather conditioning, stain treatment, and pet hair removal
  • Diamond (Full Restoration) — $499: everything in Gold plus headliner cleaning, deep odor elimination, and a full judgement-free restoration for genuinely neglected interiors

Every package is one flat price regardless of vehicle size — a truck quotes the same as a sedan, so the number you see is the number you pay before travel and extras. Our full services and pricing page shows exactly what's included in each package.

What you're actually paying for

Interior detailing is priced on labor time, and honest pricing reflects honest hours. A light-duty interior on a well-kept sedan might take one to two hours. A full restoration on a neglected van can take most of a working day. When you see a wide price range, that's the real reason — not markup games.

The main factors that move an interior detailing quote:

Condition. This is the big one. Ground-in pet hair, old stains, spilled milk, smoke odor — each of these adds real hours. A detailer who quotes without asking about condition is either going to surprise you later or rush the job.

Ordinary pet hair removal is included in Gold and Diamond. Excessive embedded fur adds $25. With Silver or an individual service, pet hair removal is $25.

What's included. "Interior detail" means different things at different shops. Some include shampoo extraction; some charge it as an add-on. Always ask whether carpet shampoo, stain treatment, and pet hair are in the base price. At our shop, those come standard at the Gold level and above, or à la carte as individual add-ons (carpet shampoo $35, pet hair removal $25, stain removal $35) if you only need one thing.

Mobile service and travel. We bring supplies, water and power to your driveway. Package prices are flat — $125 Silver, $200 Gold, $499 Diamond full restoration — the same for every vehicle size. Travel from Clearfield is $1 per driving mile — free on Diamond. Rush appointments add $40; an available outdoor outlet earns a $5 discount. We confirm any condition-related adjustment before work begins. Monthly maintenance plans run $80 per vehicle per month, or $175 for heavy duty.

Why some quotes are suspiciously cheap

If a full interior detail is priced like a fast-food meal, the math only works one of two ways: the job is rushed, or the "detail" is really just a vacuum and a wipe. Quality interior work takes hours, and nobody skilled works for a few dollars an hour. A cheap detail that leaves stains, odors, and embedded hair behind isn't cheap — you'll pay again to have it done right.

Warning signs worth noticing:

  • No questions about your car's condition before quoting
  • No published pricing anywhere
  • "Full detail" claims at a price that couldn't cover two hours of labor
  • No mention of insurance — a detailer working on your property and inside your vehicle should be fully insured (we are)

Is professional detailing worth it, or should you DIY?

Honestly? It depends on the job. Routine maintenance — vacuuming, wiping surfaces, keeping up with crumbs — is absolutely a DIY task, and doing it regularly is the single best way to spend less on detailing over the life of your car. Our guides on removing dog hair and getting smells out of a car both start with DIY methods for exactly that reason.

Where professional work earns its price is extraction and restoration: shampooing carpets with heated extraction equipment, pulling odors out at the source, removing set-in stains, and restoring interiors that have gone years without attention. That equipment and experience is what you're renting, and it does things a shop-vac and a bottle of upholstery cleaner can't. If you're deciding between a detail and yet another car wash, our comparison of interior detailing vs. a car wash breaks down the difference in what you're buying.
